		<description>Great post, Martha!! These sorts of programs (like Cash for Clunkers) really don&#039;t help the environment. They only serve to support one sector of the economy while hurting others (and having a negligible--if not negative--impact on the environment). 

When will politicians learn that &quot;buy Missouri electronics&quot; ONLY helps the retailers of Missouri electronics, and actually hurts Missouri consumers (who spend more) and other Missouri retail (as Missourians have less money to spend elsewhere.)</description>

		<description>I don&#039;t think appliances need to be in a workable state to be suitable for repurposing. I think the point is more that a lot of electronics contain toxic metals, etc, that are removed before the scrap is sent to a landfill.</description>
