Another Excellent Bill in the Wisconsin Legislature
Wisconsin is debating another proposal involving milk. The Wisconsin raw milk bill I wrote about yesterday would put Wisconsin’s policy ahead of Missouri’s, but on this issue, Missouri already guarantees its citizens greater freedom. The matter I’m referring to is breastfeeding in public.
Breastfeeding in public places is protected by Missouri law. In fact, you can print out your own “license” featuring a quote from the statute, and show it to anyone who challenges your right to breastfeed.

Hear, hear! Breastfeeding is much healthier for babies, and women should be allowed to do it in public without any legal problems.

Glad you agree! Just to clarify, breastfeeding women in Wisconsin haven’t had legal problems themselves–it’s just that the law didn’t specifically state it was permitted in public, so some people were harassing them about it.

As the father of two formula-fed babies, I would dispute that breast-feeding is “much” healthier. As our own pediatrician said in response to a question (not from us) after he recommended breast feeding to a group of new parents, “I was formula fed as a baby, and I’m a doctor now.” You have to trust me that it was funny the way he said it.
