Move Over, State Invertebrate …
Here comes the state dog! Show-Me Progress and Kansas City Prime Buzz note the filing of a bill to honor Newfoundlands in general and Seaman (the dog who went along on the Lewis and Clark expedition) in particular.
I wonder if a school group lobbied for this one, as many of the other state symbols originated in fourth-grade class projects.





The more time they spend deliberating on the state animal, the less time they spend legislating away personal liberties.
Also, I applaud the excellent choice of dog breed. The Harbin family has had four Newfoundlands.

I don’t think the state should give out endorsements. But, that is one adorable dog. I give her my official seal of cuteness.
