		<description>Kids should know about farmers, especially since they are disappearing at an alarming rate. Many children never learn where there food actually comes from or how things grow.  Of course nutrition is involved...many local vendors pick the day before they sell.  In our area, many food producers only sell local so products are free from additives and preservatives and many things are grown naturally or organically.

Local isn&#039;t always more expensive but yes, it can be for certain things.  I do agree that schools are in a tight spot since their budgets are cut each year and that&#039;s hard for them to justify spending the money on food when other things need attending to.  I think that&#039;s the fault of governments, not putting funding where it&#039;s needed to nurture our little minds.</description>
