Cigar tobacco is much coarser, and the taste is frankly vomitous. Cigars are definitely an acquired taste, and no one who is not already a fan of stogies will be able to stand these. If they banned normal cigarettes, and didn't touch normal cigars, and black market was not an issue, you would find only a small minority of cigarette smokers would move to cigars.
