Finally, I Agree With Barack Obama About Something
We both love Pi Pizza. Don’t tell me I’ve never tried to be bipartisan.
As an aside, I have known Pi’s owner, Chris Sommers, for most of my life. He is one of my brother’s best friends. I am delighted by the success of his restaurant and by this publicity.

The pizza looks tasty, I’m just glad it doesn’t have provel.
Growing up in St Louis, I always wondered why frozen pizzas or Pizza Hut tasted so good, yet Imo’s always made me feel a little sick. Then I found out you could order St Louis style pizza with mozzarella, and I discovered the culprit. I now feel that provel is the nastiest thing that people I know consider food.

So that’s where your anti-cheese bias originated… I kinda dig Provel. I’d never heard of it before moving here, but was fascinated to find that St. Louis had a regional favorite cheese that’s essentially a home-grown variant of Velveeta:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provel_cheese
Velveeta is a processed mix of colby, Swiss, and cheddar (blended all togedder, for a cheese that melts with ease), while Provel is a processed mix of Provolone, Swiss, and cheddar. I’m not saying I’d miss Provel were I to move away, but as long as I’m here I’m happy to indulge in the area’s culinary quirks.

Provel IS gross. Velveeta is not cheese. Don’t get me wrong I dig Velveeta. But less than half of it is made from cheese. Those fake American slices that are 25 cents at the dollar stores that are called Cheese Food? Velveeta is less cheese than those. It is “Cheese Product”. haha My parents are allergic to milk so the only “cheese” I had growing up was Velveeta. I basically also have an aversion to cheese though. I like mozzarella on pizza and American on a cheeseburger but that’s basically it.

As good as this pizza is, I cannot support such a blatant anti-STL establishment, even if their tomato-filled pies are probably the best tasting pizza on the loop.

Jake,
“anti-STL”? Really? Cmon. Provel the name is now owned and trademarked by Kraft. Kraft is from Chicago.
Provel is an abomination creation that consists of Swiss, Cheddar & Provolone. It was supposedly created in the immigrant Italian section of St. Louis referred to as “the Hill”. I have to assume that this is a proletariat creation for financial reasons. Less ingredients with the thin crust and three-combo cheese would cost less but with an overwhelming taste.
